Before your appointment
Cervical DMX: what we will ask you to do
This is the neck study. You stay dressed. We guide every movement. You only go as far as is comfortable, and you can take a break at any time.
Cervical Digital Motion X-ray. Sound on. About the movements you will make in the mobile lab.
Before you arrive
- Wear a shirt without a collar, zipper, or metal near the neck. A sports bra is fine. We do not need you to change into a gown.
- Take off necklaces, dangling earrings, and hair clips. A ponytail is fine if it sits high.
- Tell us if you are pregnant, or if you might be. We will not scan you if there is a chance of pregnancy.
- Eat and take your regular medications unless your doctor told you otherwise.
- Muscle relaxants and pain meds are fine to take before your movement. If you are overly stiff, the scan may show restrictions./li>
- Bring the referral if you have one, and a photo ID.
During the study
- You stand and the camera records the neck while you move, which is the part a still MRI cannot show.
- We will ask for gentle motion: look down and up, tilt ear toward shoulder, and turn. We demonstrate each view first before we scan.
- Stop if a movement is too much. A smaller motion is still useful. Pain is not the goal. Move as far as you can
- The beam is only on while we are recording. The visit is usually 30–40 minutes. The moving part is shorter than that.
Afterward. You can drive yourself. There is no dye and no recovery time. The report and video go to you and your doctor within a few days.
