MRIs can see if ligamentous tissue are completely torn, but what happens if the ligament does not tear all the way but is overstretched? The goal is to not only see if the ligament is torn, but also see if the function of the ligament has been compromised. After all, ligaments are what holds joints together. The realty of an overstretched ligament is that you will experience the same instability as if the ligament were torn. Since MRIs are static, they may not see an overstretched ligament leading to a "normal" diagnosis, leaving you with the pain. |
